Postpartum Care

*Great option as a shower gift!*

The postpartum package is care provided in the client’s home. This is a great option for folks who aren’t hiring a birth doula or want more postpartum hours than what is generally offered with a birth package. Postpartum is typically considered the first 12 months after birth.

What does postpartum care look like?

Before your baby arrives, we'll have a two-hour consult to discuss your goals and needs as the birthing parent as well as how this may intertwine with any family members in the house. We'll create a customizable checklist together based on your needs, which you can access in both physical and/or digital formats (Google Docs or Notion). This way, you can easily update your preferences between visits and let me know what's most important to you during my shifts. It's all about tailoring your postpartum care to fit your unique needs and giving you the support you deserve.

Support may include:

- postpartum shift consult to create a list of goals and priorities

- email, telephone, and text support

- reflexology and reiki during shifts

- light meal prep

- light housekeeping

- laundry assistance

- spending time with baby and/or older children so you can tend to your needs

- non-judgemental listening ear

- support guiding co-parent with the new-baby adjustment period

- support finding additional resources for you and your family

Postpartum hourly rates:

Night shifts: $35/hour, 8 hour minimum

Day shifts: $30/hour, 3 hour minimum

Add $88.00 for 1 hour of reflexology/ reiki during visit

So take a deep breath, and know that you're not alone. With postpartum care services, you can rest assured that you and your baby are in loving hands. I am honoured to help you embrace this precious time with confidence, grace, and joy.

FAQs

  • Where a nanny cares only for your children, postpartum support involves caring for both the birthing parent and baby in the tender and sometimes trying time following birth. This means that along with helping you become the best parents for your baby, Heather is also knowledgeable about the new parent’s special needs in the postpartum period and can facilitate a smooth emotional and physical transition to parenthood.

  • Sometimes a postpartum support is required during evenings or weekends. If this is something you know you will require from the beginning let Heather know so that she can try to accommodate you. With enough notice, she can accommodate most scheduling requests. Overnights are also available for an additional fee.

  • Yes, postpartum care can also help with other children while you care for your newborn. We can make snacks or play a game. Heather is there to support you in whatever you need so that the postpartum period feels seamless and supported, setting you and your family up for an easier life postpartum.

  • While I am not yet a certified doula, I am in the process of completing my holistic full-spectrum doula training. I have training in reflexology & reiki specific to prenatal, maternal, and postpartum phases, including a lot of the emotional and physical symptoms that are covered in doula training.

This does not impact my ability to support you and your family as I am very comfortable admitting when I don’t know something and connecting us with someone who will be able to help. I also can help with filtering through all the information available online.

"Postpartum is a period of transformation, both physically and emotionally. It's a time to honor the strength it takes to bring new life into the world and to embrace the journey of parenthood with compassion and grace."
